Terms and Conditions for Home Deliveries

All you need to know

We’re doing things a little differently now and have made the changes quite quickly. That’s the beauty of being an agile entrepreneurial business. During this ever-changing time of CoVID-19, we are adapting as we go with the aim to provide you with a great offering while your office is closed. With that in mind, the below Ts & Cs are also a form of FAQs so please familiarise yourself with them before placing an order. If you have any questions, just give us a shout and we’ll gladly assist.

Please note that we are not a Food Lover’s Market store and we are not delivering on behalf of Food Lover’s Market. We have partnered with them as a supplier for the products that we are offering during this time.

Acceptance of terms and conditions

By using our services, you are acknowledging that you understand the terms and conditions, and that you are accepting and agreeing to be bound by them.

Product Availability and pricing

All products displayed on our website are subject to availability and all prices will be kept updated and correct. We reserve the right to remove certain products and update pricing from time to time without giving notice. The Fruit Cube will determine the final mix in each combination-type box based on what is available (e.g. one week a fruit box may contain apples, pears and bananas whereas the next week it may contain apples, pears and oranges).


Currently deliveries will take place as advertised on the Home Deliveries page, with cut offs for orders in place as mentioned on the Home Deliveries page. Please ensure that someone is home between 9am and 5pm to accept your delivery. Anyone signing on your behalf for the delivery will be deemed to be authorised to do so.

Delivery slots are not available at this time as drivers will follow the most efficient routes to ensure that all orders are delivered within the day. Should no one be available to sign for and accept the delivery, we will make every effort to get in touch with you and arrange another time on the day. If we are unable to deliver to you after two attempts, your goods will be delivered on our next scheduled delivery day. In such a case, The Fruit Cube will not be held liable for any ripening/damage that may occur to fresh produce should your delivery have to be returned to the warehouse and redelivered on a future date.

Deliveries and collections are outsourced to a third party and we are therefore not liable for any loss or damage caused by them, save for loss or damage to the goods you ordered from us.

Please wash your hands before accepting the delivery to help keep everyone safe and healthy. You will not be required to sign on the delivery device, but you will have to provide your details for the driver. 

Delivery areas

We are currently only delivering to homes within certain suburbs. Please ensure that your delivery address falls within these areas before placing an order – these are listed on the Home Deliveries page on our website. If you are unsure, please call us before placing an order. We cannot deliver to townships or informal settlements and reserve the right to cancel an order should it fall outside of our current delivery areas.

Packing and packaging of goods

As is an everyday practice in the packhouse, the teams packing your orders routinely sanitise their hands and the working area. This is now an even greater priority. For your safety, handling of produce will be minimised. Consequently, produce will be delivered in the original supplier’s packaging as far as possible (e.g. apples will remain in the bag) and this means that each piece of fresh produce will not be checked individually for any bruising as we do in the normal course of business – please bear this in mind.  

All fresh produce boxes are sealed immediately once packed and are not opened again until you, the customer, open them. This ensures that there is no further direct contact with any product after it leaves our warehouse. We do suggest giving all boxes a wipe down once received as a way of practicing good hygiene and for peace of mind, simply rinse all produce before consumption. 


Payment is done securely via Payfast at checkout and The Fruit Cube will not store any card details. By submitting your order and payment card details you warrant that you are authorised to make payment and that there are sufficient funds available.

Voucher/promotion codes and donations

Voucher and promotion codes can only be used once, are not exchangeable for cash and are only valid for use during the lockdown period. Any voucher purchased can only be applied to your next order, or, if you are buying it on behalf of someone else, they can use it on their next order. Voucher codes will be sent to you via email once the payment of your voucher purchase has been confirmed – please allow some time for this to be processed and emailed during office hours.

If you choose to donate a box, your purchase thereof will be confirmed in the confirmation email you receive. Once a week, The Fruit Cube will tally all donated boxes and deliver them to a place in particular need. You are welcome to email us to find out where the boxes will be delivered. 

Confirmation of Orders

Your order is deemed to be accepted when payment has been made and you receive a confirmation of order via email to the email address you supplied.

Returns, Refunds and cancellations

Because of the circumstances and the quick change from our usual business operations, unfortunately no returns will be allowed during this time. This is in an effort to keep within the capacity of driver trips within a day.

Should there be any obvious damage to a product, please email us a photo taken at the time of delivery and we will address it on a case by case basis.

Currently cancellations of paid orders will not be allowed.

Accuracy of the website content

While we aim to keep all information, product specifications and images up to date and accurate, we do not warrant that all such content is always up to date and accurate.


As a Fruit Cube customer and/or someone who has directly enquired about our service offering and/or products, we may from time to time communicate with you to inform you about any changes to our service and/or products.

Risk and Ownership

Risk in the products shall pass to you or your authorised representative on delivery.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising in relation to these shall, to the extent permitted by law, be referred to arbitration at a venue of our choice. We reserve the right to cancel any sale in the event of a breach of any of these terms and conditions, which may be updated from time to time without notice. We accept no liability, to the extent permitted by law, for any loss or damage of any kind whatsoever or howsoever caused arising from the use of the service we provide or the purchase of any products.
